​Matthew (“Matt”) is an associate attorney at Cutolo Barros.  Before joining the team in 2024, Matt served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Paul X. Escandon, J.S.C. in the Criminal Division at the Monmouth County Vicinage.  In his role as a law clerk, he conducted legal research and writing on various criminal matters ranging from pretrial detention motions to recovery court appeals.  Before that, he had the pleasure of working at Chamlin, Uliano, and Walsh conducting research in civil and criminal matters, as well as drafting complaints, motions, and discovery requests.  During his first summer out of law school, Matt interned for the Honorable Guy P. Ryan, J.S.C. in the Ocean County Vicinage.

Matt graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Monmouth University in 2017.  Immediately after college, he obtained a position as a Victim Witness Advocate at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, assisting victims of crime through the criminal justice process.  During his three years there, he developed a professional network of many Assistant Prosecutors, which piqued his interest in the idea of pursuing a legal education and career.  Matt graduated from Delaware Law School in 2023.  Matt is a member of the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York (application pending) state bars.

Outside the office, Matt enjoys traveling, skiing, golfing, and spending time with friends and family.
